Armen Ashotyan: Foreign Policy of Armenia Should Stem Exclusively From National Interests

On June 1, a discussion was held with the participation of the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the RA Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on the initiative of the Committee Chair.

The advisers to the RA President and the RA Prime Minister also took part.

In the course of the meeting a wide scope of issues concerning the foreign political agenda was discussed, and the effective use of the parliamentary control tool set was touched upon.

Talking about the foreign political agenda the Committee Chair noted that the foreign policy of Armenia should exclusively stem from the national interests of the country.

Regarding the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem, the Head of the Foreign Ministry has noted that the status of Artsakh and the provision of security are the priorities of Armenia in the negotiation process.

At the meeting the importance of acting together in the foreign policy with the full inclusion of the parliamentary component of tool set of diplomacy was underlined.
